Arithmetic Reasoning (SSC REASONING) Part-2

Total Questions: 50

1. A total amount of ₹2,95,000 is to bе distributed between Vineet, Prateek and Mayank in such a way that Vineet gets half of the amount that Mayank gets and Prateek gets ₹25,000 less than Vineet. How much amount will Vineet get?

Correct Answer: (a) ₹80,000
Solution:Given that total amount = 2,95000
Let amount get mayank is = 2X
Then vineet get amount = X
And Prateek get amount = (X - 25000)
Total amount = X + 2X + (X - 25000)
= 2,95,000
= 4X - 25000 = 2,95000, 4X = 320000
So. X = 320000/4 = 80,000

2. The radius of a circle is 90 cm. If the radius of this circle is increased to 99 cm, then what will be the percentage increase in the area of this circle?

Correct Answer: (b) 21%
Solution:

So net increase in area 21%

3. In a coaching institute, the number of students in class 10 is 1/3 more than the number of students in class 12. If the total number of students of class 10 and class 12 in the institute is 112. find the number of students in class 10 in that institute.

Correct Answer: (a) 64
Solution:Ratio → Class 10: class 12
Number of students → 4x: 3x
Given that total number of students
= 7x = 112, x = 16
Total number of students in class 10
= 4x = 4× 16 = 64

4. Vaidehi got 92% marks in an examination and Kavyanjali got 78% marks in the same examination. If the difference between the marks obtained by Vaidehi and Kavyanjali is 105, find the marks obtained by Vaidehi in the examination.

Correct Answer: (c) 690
Solution:

5. The ratio of the sum of and the difference between two numbers is 6:5. Find the ratio of these two numbers.

Correct Answer: (d) 11: 1
Solution:

6. lf 80% of a number is 768, what will be 40% of 5% of that number?

Correct Answer: (c) 19.2
Solution:

7. Abhay's uncle sent him some mangoes from Konkan. If he was to eat some specific number of mangoes every day, they would have lasted for 60 days. But, Abhay's cousin Rajiv came to spend the holidays with him and both of them finished the mangoes in 36 days. If Rajiv alone was to eat the mangoes, then how many days would they have lasted?

Correct Answer: (b) 90
Solution:

8. In a training camp, three types of games: hockey, cricket and badminton were taught. 14% of the total students received cricket training. 22% of the remaining students received training for hockey. Half of the remaining students received training for badminton. What percentage of students did NOT receive training in any of the three games?

Correct Answer: (d) 33.54%
Solution:

9. When number X multiplied to its next number, the product 1260 is obtained. When Number X is added to Number Y, a total of 106 is obtained. Find the value of Number Y. (Assume numbers to be positive)

Correct Answer: (a) 71
Solution:x(x + 1) = 1260 —- equ.(1)
On solving equ.(1) then, x = 35
And x + y = 106 so, y = 106-35 = 71

10. Rajesh purchased 6 mangoes, 3 bananas and 10 guavas in ₹136. If the ratio of the cost (per piece) of mangoes, bananas and guavas is 3:2:1, what will be the total cost of 1 mango, 2 bananas and 3 guavas?

Correct Answer: (c) ₹40
Solution:Let the cost of guavas = x
According to the question
6 x 3x + 3 x 2x + 10x = 136
18x + 6x + 10x = 136, 34x = 136 so. x = 4
then the cost per piece of mangoes
banana and guava is ₹12, ₹8, ₹4
respectively so,
1 mango = ₹12, 2 banana = ₹16
3 guavas = ₹ 12
total cost = 12+16+12 = ₹40
