Total Questions: 31

21. A plastic toy costs Rs. 7. A plastic spoon costs Rs. 5. X spends Rs. 38 on these plastic items. Find the number of plastic toys he/she purchased.

Correct Answer: (b) 4
Solution:Suppose if he bought all the
toys then maximum toys that can be
bought 38/7 =5.42
And if he bought all the spoons then the
maximum number of spoons that can be
bought 38/5 = 7.6.So, he bought either 6 or 7 products.
7 items can't be bought as 7 x 5
= 35, then only 3 rupees are left. (So, this
is not a valid case)
Let, toys = x and spoon = 6- x
So, 7x + (6 - x) × 5 = 38
7x + 30 - 5x = 38, = 2x = 8
x = 4 = plastic toys and
spoons =6-4=2

22. Rahul has Rs.340 in the denominations of Rs. 2 notes, Rs. 5 notes and Rs. 10 notes. The number of notes of each denomination is equal. What is the total number of notes that Rahul has?

Correct Answer: (b) 60
Solution:Let each type of note = x.
So, 2x + 5x + 10 x = 340;
17x = 340; x = 20.
So, total notes = 3x = 20 × 3 = 60

23. The sum of the squares of three numbers is 336 and the ratio of the first and the second as also of the second and third is 1: 2. Then find the difference between the third and first numbers.

Correct Answer: (c) 12
Solution:1st: 2nd = 1: 2,
2nd: 3rd = 1: 2 = 2:4
So 1st: 2nd: 3rd = 1:2:4.
Now (x²+ (2x)²+ (4x)² = 21x² = 336.
x² 336=16=4² 21
1st number = 4, 2nd = 4 × 2 = 8,
3rd = 4 x 4 = 16.
Difference between 1st and 3rd
= 16- 4 = 12

24. Ranga got thrice as many Question wrong as he got right in a mathematics assignment. If he attempted 72 sums in all, how many did he solve correctly in his mathematics assignment?

Correct Answer: (d) 18
Solution:Let right questions = x,
wrong = 3x, x + 3x = 72,
4x = 72, x = 18. Right = 18, wrong = 54.

25. Three persons A, B and C have different amounts of rupees with them. If C takes Rs 11 from A, C will have equal amount as B has. B and C together have total Rs 111. How many rupees does C have?

Correct Answer: (a) 50
Solution:C + 11 = B, C + B = 111
C+C+11 = 111 → C = 50.

26. Three persons A, B and C have different amounts of rupees with them. If A takes Rs. 12 from C, A will have equal amount as B has. A and B together have a total Rs 102. How many rupees does A have?

Correct Answer: (d) 45
Solution:B- A = 12, A+B = 102,
A+A+ 12 = 102
2A = 90, A = 45.

27. Three friends A, B and C have different amounts of rupees with them. If B takes₹7 from A, then B will have equal amount as C has. B and C together have a total ₹157. How many rupees does C have?

Correct Answer: (d) 82
Solution:B-C =-7
B+C = 157, В = 75.
C = 75+7 = 82.

28. A total sum of Rs. 209 is distributed among three friends A, B, and C in such a way that A gets six times rupees than B, C gets 4 times rupees than B. How many rupees does A get?

Correct Answer: (a) 114
Solution:A = 6B, C = 4B
A+B+C = 209
6B + B + 4B = 209
11B = 209: B = 19. A = 6 x 19 = 114.

29. Rs 1,875 is divided among A, В and C in such a way that A's share is half of the combined share of B and C, and B's share is one-fourth of the combined share of A and C. By what amount is C's share more than that of A?

Correct Answer: (c) Rs 250
Solution:

30. Two mixtures contain milk and juice in the ratio of 2: 1 and 4: 5. If equal volumes of the two mixtures are mixed together, what would be the ratio of milk to juice in the resulting mixture?

Correct Answer: (d) 5:4
Solution:
