Solution:Difference between male and female applicants who attended the interview on day 2 = 20 - 12 = 8

114. Directions [114-117]: Read the following paragraph carefully and answer the questions accordingly

A company has total 1800 employees. The employees are classified into four levels. The categories are level 1, level 2, level 3 and level 4. Total employees in level 1 are (95/3)% of total employees in the company. Total employees in level 2 are 35% of the total employees in the company. Number of employees in level 1 is 90 more than twice the number of employees in level 4. Salary of level 1 employee per month is Rs.20000. The salary of level 2 employee per month is 15% more than that of level 1 employee. Salaries of level 3 and level 4 employees per month are respectively 20% and 40% more than the salary of level 2 employee per month.

Ques : What are the average number of employees working in level 1, level 2 and level 3?

Correct Answer: (b) 520
Solution:

Total employees in the company = 1800

Total number of employees in level 1 = (95/300) × 1800 = 95 × 6 = 570

Total number of employees in level 2 = (35/100) × 1800 = 630

Total number of employees in level 1 = 2 × total number of employees in level 4 + 90

2 × Total number of employees in level 4 = Total number of employees in level 1 - 90

Total number of employees in level 4 = (570 - 90)/2

Total number of employees in level 4 = 480/2

Total number of employees in level 4 = 240

Total number of employees in level 1 + Total number of employees in level 2 + Total number of employees in level 3 + Total number of employees in level 4 = 1800

570 + 630 + Total number of employees in level 3 + 240 = 1800

Total number of employees in level 3 = 1800 - 1440

Total number of employees in level 3 = 360

Salary of level 1 employee per month = Rs.20000

Salary of level 2 employee per month = 20,000 × 1.15 = Rs.23,000

Salary of level 3 employee per month = 23000 × 1.2 = Rs.27,600

Salary of level 4 employee per month = Rs.23,000 × 1.4 = Rs.32,200

Employees in level 1 = 570
Employees in level 2 = 630
Employees in level 3 = 360
Required average = (570 + 630 + 360)/3
= 1560/2 = 520

115. Find the ratio of total number of employees in level 2 to total number of employees in level 1 and level 4 together

Correct Answer: (c) 7:9
Solution:

Total number of employees in level 2 = 630
Total number of employees in level 1 = 570
Total number of employees in level 4 = 240
Required ratio = 630:(570+240)
= 630:810 = 7:9

116. Salary of level 4 employees are how much percent more or less than the salary of level 3 employees?

Correct Answer: (d) (50/3)%
Solution:

Salary of level 4 employees = Rs.32,200
Salary of level 3 employees = Rs.27,600

Required percentage = [(32,200 - 27,600) / 27,600] × 100
= [(4600) / 27,600] × 100 = (50/3)%

117. If next year 30% of level 3 employees are promoted to level 4 and in level 4, 25% employees are retired. What is the total number of employees in level 4 currently?

Correct Answer: (a) 288
Solution:

Total number of employees in level 3 = 360
Total number of employees added in level 4
= (30/100) × 360 = 108

Total number of employees retired from level 4
= (25/100) × 240 = 60

Total employees in level 4 now = 240 - 60 + 108
= 288

118. Directions [118-122]: Read the data carefully and answer the following questions.

Reena has four toys - doll, duck, unicorn and teddy bear and also a Cricket kit having cricket bat, gloves and ball. The cost of cricket bat is 11 times the cost of a Doll, the cost of gloves is 10% more than the cost of a Teddy bear, the cost of a ball is Rs.200 less than the cost of a doll and the total cost of unicorn and duck is Rs.1500. The ratio of Doll and teddy bear is 1:4 and the total cost of all these items is Rs.18420.

Ques : Find the ratio of the total cost of a doll to the cost of ball.

Correct Answer: (c) 4:3
Solution:

Let cost of a doll and a teddy bear is m and 4m respectively.

Cost of cricket bat = 11 × m = 11m

Cost of gloves = 110% × 4m = 4.4m

Cost of a ball = m - 200

Total cost of unicorn and duck = 1500

According to the question,

m + 4m + 11m + 4.4m + m - 200 + 1500 = 18420

21.4m = 18420 - 1300

21.4m = 17120

m = 800

So, Cost of doll = m = Rs.800
Cost of teddy bear = 4m = Rs.3200
Cost of cricket bat = 11m = Rs.8800
Cost of gloves = 4.4m = 4.4 × 800 = Rs.3520
Cost of a ball = m - 200 = Rs.600
Total cost of unicorn and duck = Rs.1500

Total cost of a doll = 800
Total cost of ball = 600
Required ratio = 800:600 = 4:3

119. Find the average cost of all the four toys together.

Correct Answer: (e) Rs.1375
Solution:Total cost of all the four types of toys together
= 1500 + 3200 + 800 = Rs.5500
Required average = 5500/4 = Rs.1375

120. The cost of a cricket bat is approximately what percentage more or less than the cost of a teddy bear?

Correct Answer: (b) Rs. 2680
Solution:Total cost of teddy bear and gloves = 3200 + 3520 = 6720
Total cost of cricket bat and ball = 8800 + 600 = 9400
Required difference = 9400 - 6720 = 2680 Rs.
