Total Questions: 150

141. Directions [141-146]: Read the following passage carefully and answer the following questions

There are two cities and three types of towers in those cities. City A has total 900 towers. Tower A in city A are (1/5) of the tower C in city A. Tower B in city B is 100 more than the tower A in city A. Tower A in city B is 200 more than the tower B in city B. Tower C in city B is twice of the tower B in city A. Tower B in city A is 100 more than the tower B in city B.

Ques : Tower A in city A are how much percent of the tower B in city A?

Correct Answer: (c) 33.33%
Solution:

Let tower C in city A be 5x.
Tower A in city A = (1/5) × 5x = x
Tower B in city B = x + 100
Tower A in city B = x + 100 + 200 = x + 300
Tower B in city A = 100 + x + 100 = x + 200
Tower C in city B is twice of the tower B in city A.
Tower C in city B = 2x + 400
City A has total 900 towers.
5x + x + x + 200 = 900
7x = 700
x = 100

142. What is the ratio of the tower A in city B and tower B in city B respectively?

Correct Answer: (a) 2:1
Solution:Required ratio = 400:200 = 2:1

143. What is the difference between tower C in city A and tower C in city B?

Correct Answer: (c) 100
Solution:Required difference = 600 − 500 = 100

144. What is the sum of the tower B in city A and tower A in city B?

Correct Answer: (a) 700
Solution:Required sum = 300 + 400 = 700

145. What is the average of the tower A in city A and tower B in city B?

Correct Answer: (c) 150
Solution:Required average = (100 + 200)/2 = 150

146. Tower C in city B is how much percent of the tower C in city A?

Correct Answer: (e) 120%
Solution:Required percentage = (600/500) × 100 = 120%

147. Directions [147-150]: Study the following information carefully and answer the related questions:

All the students of a school are divided into three groups viz Grey, Pink and White on the basis of their activities. Each and every student belongs to one or more than one among the three groups. Total number of students in the school is 1200. 40% of the students belong to more than one group. 15% of the students belong to both White and Pink groups but not Grey group. 15% of the students belong to both Grey and Pink groups. 30% of the students belong to Grey group but not Pink Group. 43% of the students belong to White group but not Grey group. 63% of the students belong to White group.

Ques : Find the respective ratio of total number of students who belong to Grey group and total number of students who belong to Pink group.

Correct Answer: (d) 15:14
Solution:

a + b + c + d + e + f + g = 1200 …(i)
d + e + f + g = 40/100 × 1200 = 480 …(ii)
f = 15/100 × 1200 = 180 …(iii)
d + g = 15/100 × 1200 = 180 …(iv)

From (iii) and (iv):
180 + e + 180 = 480
e = 480 360
e = 120 (v)

a + e = 30/100 × 1200 = 360 …(vi)
From (v) and (vi):
a + 120 = 360
a = 240 (vii)

c + f = 43/100 × 1200 = 516
From (iii):
c + 180 = 516
c = 336 (viii)

From (i) and (ii):
a + b + c + 480 = 1200
a + b + c = 720 (ix)

From (vii), (viii) and (ix):
240 + b + 336 = 720
b = 720 576
b = 144 (x)

c + e + f + g = 63/100 × 1200 = 756
From (iii), (v) and (viii):
336 + 120 + 180 + g = 756
636 + g = 756
g = 120 (xi)

From (iv) and (xi):
d + 120 = 180
d = 60

Total number of students who belong to Grey group
= 240 + 60 + 120 + 120 = 540
Total number of students who belong to Pink group
= 144 + 60 + 120 + 180 = 504
Required ratio = 540 : 504 = 15 : 14

148. Number of students who belong to Pink group but not White group is approximately what percent of the number of students who belong to only White group?

Correct Answer: (c) 61%
Solution:

Number of student who belong to Pink group but not White group
= 144 + 60 = 204
Number of students who belong to only White group = 336
Required percentage = 204/336 × 100 = 60.71% ≈ 61%

149. Find the difference between number of students who belong to any two of the three groups and number of students who belong to all the three groups.

Correct Answer: (c) 240
Solution:Number of students who belong to any two of the three groups
= 120 + 60 + 180 = 360
Number of students who belong to all the three groups = 120
Required difference = 360 − 120 = 240

150. Number of students who belong to only one group is approximately what percent more than the number of students who belong to either Grey group or Pink group but not both?

Correct Answer: (a) 5%
Solution:Number of students who belong to only one group
= 240 + 144 + 336 = 720
Number of students who belong to either Grey group or Pink group but not both
= 240 + 120 + 144 + 180 = 684
Required percentage = (720 − 684)/684 × 100 = 5.26% ≈ 5%
