Total Questions: 150

61. By what percent is the number of pastries sold on Thursday more/less than that sold on Monday?

Correct Answer: (b) 6.25%
Solution:Number of pastries sold on Thursday = 75
Number of pastries sold on Monday = 80
Hence, required % = {(80 - 75)/80} × 100
= 6.25% less

62. If the average number of pastries sold on Tuesday and Saturday together is 67, find the number of pastries sold on Saturday

Correct Answer: (a) 74
Solution:

Let the number of pastries sold on Saturday be ‘t’.
Number of pastries sold on Tuesday = 60

According to the question:
=> (t + 60)/2 = 67
=> t + 60 = 134
=> t = (134 - 60) = 74

63. If 25% and 40% of the pastries sold on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively are chocolate pastries, find the total number of chocolate pastries sold on Tuesday and Wednesday together.

Correct Answer: (d) 33
Solution:

Number of pastries sold on Tuesday = 60
Number of chocolate pastries sold on Tuesday = (1/4) of 60 = 15

Number of pastries sold on Wednesday = 45
Number of chocolate pastries sold on Wednesday = (2/5) of 45 = 18

Hence, required total number of chocolate pastries sold on Tuesday and Wednesday together = (15 + 18) = 33

64. The number of pastries sold on Monday is what percent of the total number of pastries sold on Thursday and Friday together?

Correct Answer: (c) 64%
Solution:

Number of pastries sold on Monday = 80

Total number of pastries sold on Thursday and Friday together = (75 + 50) = 125

Hence, required % = (80/125) × 100 = 64%

65. Directions [65-69]: Study the following information carefully and answer the related questions.

A room is full of total 800 balloons (toy-shaped and star-shaped) and each of them is painted with at least one color among red, yellow and green. Ratio of the number of balloons which are painted with only yellow color and that with only green color is 5:4 respectively. 52% of balloons are painted with red color. 7.5% of balloons are painted with both yellow and green but not red color. 26% of balloons are painted with only red color which is twice of number of balloons painted with both red and yellow but not green color. 22% of balloons are painted with green color but not yellow color.

Ques : If 3/4th of the balloons painted with only two colors are toy-shaped, then how many balloons painted with only two colors are star-shaped?

Correct Answer: (c) 49
Solution:

Total balloons = a + b + c + d + e + f + g = 800

7.5% of balloons are painted with both yellow and green but not red color.
e = 7.5% of 800 = 60

Ratio of the number of balloons which are painted with only yellow color and that with only green color is 5:4 respectively.
b : c = 5 : 4
=> b = 5c/4

52% of balloons are painted with red color.
a + d + f + g = 52% of 800
a + d + f + g = 416

800 - b - e - c = 416
800 - (5c/4) - 60 - c = 416
c = 144

b = 5 × 144/4
=> b = 180

26% of balloons are painted with only red color which is twice of number of balloons painted with both red and yellow but not green color.

a = 26% of 800
=> a = 208

d = a/2 = 208/2
=> d = 104

22% of balloons are painted with green color but not yellow color.

f + c = 22% of 800
f + 144 = 176
f = 32

Then, a + d + f + g = 416
208 + 104 + 32 + g = 416
g = 72

Number of balloons painted with only two colors = d + e + f = 104 + 60 + 32 = 196

Therefore, the number of balloons painted with only two colors which are star-shaped = (1 - 3/4) × 196 = 49

66. Number of balloons which are painted with both red and green color is what percentage of the number of balloons painted with only red color?

Correct Answer: (e) 50%
Solution:Number of balloons which are painted with both red and green color = f + g = 32 + 72 = 104
And the number of balloons painted with only red color = 208
Therefore, required percentage = (104/208) × 100 = 50%

67. How many balloons are not painted with yellow color?

Correct Answer: (d) 384
Solution:

Number of balloons which are not painted with yellow color = a + f + c = 208 + 32 + 144 = 384

68. What is the ratio of number of balloons painted with only green color to the number of balloons painted with all three colors?

Correct Answer: (a) 2:1
Solution:

Number of balloons painted with only green color = c = 144
And the number of balloons painted with all three colors = g = 72
Therefore, required ratio = 144 : 72 = 2 : 1

69. Ratio of number of toy-shaped and star-shaped balloons is 3:2 respectively. If 40% of the star-shaped balloons are painted with yellow color but not green color, then how many toy-shaped balloons are painted with yellow color but not green color?

Correct Answer: (b) 156
Solution:

Number of star-shaped balloons = 800 × 2/5 = 320
Number of star-shaped balloons painted with yellow color but not green color = 40% of 320 = 128
Number of balloons painted with yellow color but not green color = d + b = 104 + 180 = 284
Therefore, the number of toy-shaped balloons painted with yellow color but not green color = 284 - 128 = 156
