Total Questions: 54

41. Question: What is the weight of ten iron balls if each ball is of the same weight? [RRB ALP 17/08/2018 (Evening)]

Statements:
1. One-fourth of each ball's weight is 5 kg.
2. The total weight of three iron balls is 20 kg more than the total weight of two iron balls.

Correct Answer: (c) Either statement 1 or 2 is sufficient
Solution:

From statement 1:
1/4 of the weight of each ball = 5 kg
Weight of each ball = 5 × 4 = 20 kg
Then, weight of 10 balls
= 20 × 10 = 200 kg
From statement 2 :
Total weight of 3 iron balls = 20 + total
weight of two iron balls
Weight of 1 ball = 20 kg
weight of 10 balls = 20 × 10 = 200 kg
Clearly, we can see that either statement 1 or 2 is sufficient.

42. Question: All natural numbers are whole numbers? [RRB ALP 20/08/2018 (Afternoon)]

 Statements:
(I) All natural numbers plus 0 are called whole numbers.
(II) Whole numbers are different from natural numbers.

Correct Answer: (b) (I) alone is sufficient while (II) alone is not sufficient to answer the question.
Solution:

Statement 1 → We know that positive and negative integers are whole numbers So we can say that statement 1 is sufficient.
Statement 2 → From statement 2 we cannot define whole numbers and natural numbers. This is not sufficient. Statement 1 is sufficient while statement 2 is not sufficient.

43. Question: Find the age of the mother from the given statements. [RRB ALP 20/08/2018 (Evening)]

 Statements :
I: Mother's age is 10 years more than her son
II: Sons age is 24 years more than daughter

Correct Answer: (b) Neither I nor II is sufficient
Solution:

From statement I ,
Let the age of son be x Then, the age of mother = (x + 10) yrs
From statement II, The age of daughter = (x - 24) yrs
On combining statement I and II, we don’t get the exact age of the mother.
so, we can see that neither I nor II is sufficient

44. Question: How is Bhavana related to Sathish [RRB ALP 20/08/2018 (Evening)]

 Statements:
I: Bhavana's mother is Rajyam
II: Rajyam's son is Satish

Correct Answer: (a) Both I and II are sufficient
Solution:

Statement 1 → Bhavana's mother is Rajyam . This information is insufficient as there is no relation between bhavana and Satish.
Statement 2 → Rajyam's son is Satish. This information does not give information about relation between bhavana and Satish. So this statement is insufficient.
After combining two statement we get, Rajyam is the mother of Bhavana and Satish. We can say that Bhavana is the sister of Satish.
Both the statements are sufficient.

45. Question: Find the value of x. [RRB ALP 20/08/2018 (Evening)]

 Statements:
I: Sum of squares of positive consecutive even numbers is 52
II: Difference of the number is 2

Correct Answer: (a) Only I is sufficient while II is not
Solution:

From statement I,
Let the two even no’s be x and (x+2)
On solving, we get x = –6 or 4
From statement II,
Difference of the number is 2, which is not enough to find the value of x.
Clearly, we can see that only I is sufficient while II is not.

46. Question: What is the total number of students in the class? [RRB ALP 21/08/2018 (Morning)]

Statements:
1. Mr. X's rank was 15th from the top in the class.
2. Mr. X's rank was 26th from the bottom in the class.

Correct Answer: (d) Both 1 and 2 together are sufficient to answer the question.
Solution:

Statement 1 →Mr.x rank is 15 from the top .
This information is not sufficient to give an answer.
Statement 2 → Mr. X rank is 26 from the bottom in the class. This information is not sufficient to give an answer. On combining the statement 1 and 2 Total number of student in the class are
= 26 + 15 - 1 = 40
Both the statements are sufficient to answer the question.

47. Question: What is the colour of human blood? [RRB ALP 29/08/2018 (Afternoon)]

 Statements :
1. Blue is called pink, red is called orange and orange is called yellow.
2. White is called black, black is called green, green is called brown and brown is called red.

Correct Answer: (b) 1 alone is sufficient while 2 alone is not sufficient to answer the given question.
Solution:

Statement 1 → The color of human blood is red and the red is called orange. So the color of human blood is orange. So statement 1 is alone sufficient to answer the question.
Statement 2 → Here is no mention of what the red color is called so this statement is not sufficient to answer the question.
Only statement 1 is sufficient to answer the question.

48. Question: If U, V and W are negative numbers, and Z is a number, then is Z positive? [RRB ALP 29/08/2018 (Afternoon)]

1. Z = V - W
2. Z × V = U

Correct Answer: (c) 2 alone is sufficient while 1 alone is not sufficient to answer the question.
Solution:

Let U = -1, V = -2 and W = -3
From statement I, we have :
Z = -2 - (- 3) = - 2 + 3 = 1.
If we take V = - 3 and W = - 2. Then, Z
= -3 - (- 2) = - 3 + 2 = - 1
From statement II we have :

Clearly, we can see that statement 2 alone is sufficient while 1 alone is not sufficient to answer the question.

49. Question: How much did Mr. X earn in the year 2000? [RRB ALP 29/08/2018 (Evening)]

 Statements:
1. Mr. X earned ₹ 7,000 in 2003, which is 10% more than what he earned in 2000.
2. Ms. Y, Mr. X's wife, earned half of the amount Mr. X earned, and they together earned ₹9,000 in 2000.

Correct Answer: (b) Either 1 or 2 is sufficient to answer the question.
Solution:

Let the salary of Mr X be a From statement 1, we have :
The value of a can be calculated either from statement 1 or statement 2. Hence, the correct option is (b).

2. Remaining are from India.

Correct Answer: (a) Neither 1 nor 2 is sufficient to answer the question.
Solution:

Neither 1 nor 2 is sufficient to answer the question.
